Not only did they make the list, they rated a special story. See (and read
twice):

     http://www.fortune.com/lists/bestcompanies/agilent.html

All during the time that I was "growing up" (when I was a student, a new
engineer, a new professor, and ultimately a new entrepeneur), Agilent's story
was HP's story -- and the HP of Bill and Dave always made the top ten of
these sorts of lists.

When I taught electrical engineering, most of the kids would come and ask me,
"Where do you think I ought to go to work?" I always said, without
hesitation, "HP". The result was that for a fair number of years afterwards
when I walked through the engineering facilities at Colorado Springs and
Roseville, my former students would make so much noise that it seemed as if
they were half the work force.

But I wouldn't give that same recommendation now. To me, that's the real
change in HP.
