The Cress Gallery is fortunate to host a very special exhibition:
"Selected Russian Paintings from The Finley Collection" which will open
Wed. Oct. 23 at 5:15 with a talk by co-curator Robert Garren, dealer in
Russian art followed by a public reception at approximately 5:45 in the
lobby of the UTC Fine Arts Center. The exhibition will run until Dec.
18. Hours are 9:30 - 5:00 pm , M-F. The Gallery will also be open to
the public from 6:30 pm - 10:00 pm during the upcoming Patten Series
Performances of Nosteratu on Nov. 1 and Nov. 3.
Lyle Finley is a Chattanooga businessman and an alumnus of The
University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. This will be the first public
exhibition of paintings from his collection in the Chattanooga area.
The work is figurative, most masterful in execution and rich in its
depth of interpretation of subject, created by a range of Russian
artists, men and women, across a span of generations. Dates of the
paintings included run from as recent as 1998 back to the late 1950's
