RE: Congressman Hilleary speaks - Dr. Hutchinson Critiques
A reminder to the UTC community, United States Congressman Van Hilleary,
representative of Tennessee's Fourth Congressional District, will speak in
the Burkett Miller Distinguished Lecture Series on Thursday, October 3, at
noon in Roland Hayes Hall. Congressman Hilleary will address the topic of
economic competitiveness of the state of Tennessee.
Hilleary states that Tennessee must maintain a competitive tax structure,
continue to build a solid infrastructure, and work to improve our
educational system to meet the needs of a high-tech, market-based economy
and plans to speak on how this may be accomplished.
Dr. Bruce Hutchinson will critique Congressman Hilleary's remarks.
* The views of all speakers appearing in the Burkett Miller Lecture series
are their own and do not necessarily represent those of the University or
the Probasco Chair, nor does appearance in the Miller series imply, in any
way, an endorsement of any speaker, party, candidate, or legislation. The
Miller Series provides a forum for the critical examination of
controversial ideas.
