On Tuesday, October 1, from 9 A.M. to 3:P.M. will be a free Consumer Law
Clinic at the Martin Luther King Human Services Building, Room 108, at 317 Oak
Street (behind Memorial Auditorium) and in walking distance from UTC.

The clinic will be staffed by Legal Aid of East Tennessee staff attorneys and
volunteer private attorneys from Legal Aid's Pro Bono Program. These Tennessee
lawyers will provide free legal advice at the clinic on a wide range of
consumer issues and problems to all comers. Normally, Legal Aid's services are
limited to those of very low income. However, low income is not necessary to
receive advice at this clinic. All Tennesseans qualify.

Also, private attorneys taking part in the clinic are among the finest members
of the Chattanooga Bar. So, this is a great opportunity for good, free legal
counseling. No appointments are necessary. Just come on down.

Consumer issues include: consumer fraud, home/auto repairs, predatory lending,
landlord/tenant issues, credit issues, unfair debt collection, housing
discrimination, consumer warranties, mortgage/foreclosure issues,
repossession, real estate purchases, banking issues, fraudulent/misleading
sales practices, and much more.

Also at the clinic will be representatives from the Community Housing Resource
Board's Housing Info Line to give advice concerning home purchasing and rental
and other housing information.

Again, this service is totally free and provided regardless of income level.
This service is provided by Legal Aid of East Tennessee, Inc. LAET is a
non-profit legal aid provider funded by the U.S. Government through the Legal
Services Corporation and various funding and grants from the State of
Tennessee and private contributions.

If you need more information you may contact me or call Legal Aid at 756-4013.
