Colleagues:
I don't know who authorizes such things, but I wonder what thinking guided
the decision to allow the anti-tobacco function currently BLARING AWAY right
outside of Pfeiffer-Stag and Hunter Hall. I've got nothing against the
message (even though those of you who know me know I smoke like a chimney
myself). What I do find distressing is the level of noise being generated
through the custom sound system. I imagine students trying in vain to study
in Lockmiller and attend to their instructors in Hunter. I don't have to
imagine faculty and staff trying to concentrate on work in Pfeiffer-Stag and
Guerry. This has been going on for the last four hours. It is LOUD. Surely
there are less intrusive ways to conduct such informational campaigns. And
surely they don't have to be scheduled during prime class time, or last this
long.
Please, for the love of God, make it stop. And make sure it doesn't happen
again.
Greg O'Dea.
