Could someone point me to a source where I can get the "skinny" on the
setting of NMHEAP? Heap of what? I've been told that this is transient
space and not memory. What are the gotchas in setting it too high? etc.
We had a program fail. It has a MAX HEAP SIZE of 5,000,000. QUERY on our
system has a MAX HEAP SIZE of 81,920,000 as do in-house programs. We had
the offending program succeed with a run-time NMHEAP of 10,000,000. Now we
want to alter the program file itself with a different NMHEAP, but are not
really comfortable using 10,000,000 (which was a number picked out of the
air because it was double the out-of-the-box value for the program file
itself).
So, I would like to read all about it.
I do not mean to offend the very helpful people who have communicated with
me on this issue. I just need to understand the larger picture, so that I
can speak to my management and sound somewhat informed -- before I
implement some change.
Thanks.
