That would be incorrect. Support revenues never went to CSY and so never
affected the HP 3000 directly. What did hurt the 3000 in recent years was
the black-market reselling of boxes with larger user licenses and the
illegal transformation of HP 9000 into HP 3000s.

CSY's revenues came when people bought a new box or bought upgrades to their
existing boxes. CSY made a lot of money by virtue of the fact Duane sold HP
3000 boxes with his application on them. Duane contributed heavily to the
longevity of the HP 3000, far more than the folks who bought a system 10
years ago and have never upgraded. But that is another story. In fact I
would say that Duane contributed more to the longevity 3000 than most on
this list.

Mr. Percox states:

"I am not *bashing* the hp e3000. It is a good system and I too
have *loved* the box. We are very happy supporting many customers
using the system. Without companies like ours (QSS) you would have
had an announcement much earlier than 11/14/2001 :-)"

If I recall correctly, hp stated that external support of the 3k (taking
revenue from hp) was one reason the 3k was being toasted?
