Hi HP3000-L and Stan,
I had problems with 500,000 hfs files on a 4 spindle volume set. The system was unable to allocate disc space but the volset was only 40% utilised. I had feedback from a very good HP SE and the problem was with free label table entries. He used debug to work out the current situation after I deleted a number of hfs files.
I quote:
"I used debug, macro fs_volume_list gives Label Tbl SID, and
fv <lt SID>.0 "tbl_hdr.hdr_prim_size"
fv <lt SID>.0 "tbl_hdr.hdr_prim_init_size"
fv <lt SID>.0 "tbl_hdr.hdr_rsrc_block.q_block[prim_entry].free_size"
gives
Max number of Entries (entmax)
Number of Entries Initialized (entinit)
Number of Free Entries (entfree)
The number of free entries is
entmax-entinit+entfree
Best regards,
Wolfgang Kinscher"
I need to monitor this here and at other sites, do you know an utility which shows used/free label table entries?
Stan, thanks for your comments on HP ITRC, I agree with your sentiments.
Best Regards
Fred Metcalf
