Faculty and Staff,

I would like to call your attention to the University Safety Campaign.
President John Shumaker has
asked all units of the System to participate in a campaign: UT Safety
Begins with You. Safety is
too often taken for granted. Our faculty, staff, and students are our most
valuable resources. Your
safety and health are critical to the University.

During the year, we will try to emphasize the importance of Safety in our
workplace. One such
emphasis will be a "safety contest" for employees. We want your
suggestions for ways to make
our campus an even safer place to be and work. The suggestions must offer
a solution to a safety
concern or issue that is reasonable to implement. The contest will run
from August 15 through
September 30 and the first place winner will receive a prize of
$100. Entry forms are available
from the Safety Office, from Human Resources, or on posters that will be
available at various
locations around campus. Complete the form, document your suggestions and
solutions, and
forward them to our Safety Officer, Jim Pulliam in the Office of Safety and
Risk Management.
Call Jim at extension 5209 or email him if you have any questions about the
contest.

I appreciate your attention to the important issue of safety in our
workplace and encourage you to
share your ideas. We believe that at UTC, Safety Does Begin With You!

Bill
