2002 WELCOME WEEK: Looking For Treasure at UTC

Please join us during WELCOME WEEK, a UTC tradition welcoming new and
returning students.  All of these events are FREE, and the entire UTC
community is invited.  WELCOME WEEK is sponsored by UTC Student

Aug. 16 — WELCOME ABOARD, MATEY: Freshmen Move-In (Panhellenic/IFC/Campus
Ministry) and Welcome Back Cookout (Housing/Student Development)
Aug. 17 —  SHIPS AHOY SATURDAY: Field Day Games and the Great Banana Split
Race (Campus Recreation) and Movie On The Hill “Skulls” (ACE)
Aug. 18 — SHIVER ME TIMBERS SUNDAY: Oak Street Roast (SGA and Campus
Ministry) and Mandatory Housing Meeting.
Aug. 19 — ARRRRR, MATEY MONDAY: New Student Meet-and-Greet Breakfast
(various student groups and UTC staff)
Aug. 20 — THAR BE TREASURE TUESDAY: Wax Hands and Air-Brush Tattoos (ACE) 
Aug. 21 — YO OH HEAVE HO WEDNESDAY: UTC Fall Fair (various student groups)
Aug. 22 — TREASURE CHEST THURSDAY: Scavenger Hunt (Housing)
Aug. 23 — SWIM WITH THE SHARKS FRIDAY: Hawaii 5-0 Party (Panhellenic/IFC) 
Aug. 24 — WALK THE PLANK SATURDAY: Pre-Labor Day  Picnic (BSA and ISO )
Aug. 25 — SAIL AWAY SUNDAY: Non-Denominational Church Service (Campus
Ministry) 

FRIDAY, AUG. 16: Freshmen Move-In Day (Hosted by Panhellenic/IFC/Campus
Ministry). Need some help moving in ALL of your stuff?  Just look for the
volunteer movers in the Move-In Day t-shirts who will gladly help you
starting at 10 a.m.  After you settle in, bring your parents and new
roommates to the Welcome Back Cookout for a FREE dinner, starting at 5 p.m.
on top of Cardiac Hill, near the cafeteria. (Housing/Student Development).  

SATURDAY, AUG. 17: Ready to go wild and have some FUN?  Come to the Campus
Rec Field Day for some crazy games, the Great Banana Split Race and the
Movie on the Hill "The Skulls" (ACE)  Starts at 7:30 p.m.

SUNDAY, AUG. 18: Oak Street Roast--FREE grilled food, great music by
several energetic bands and information about local churches and religious
organizations will be the highlights of this fun UTC annual event which
always draws a great crowd. (SGA /Campus Ministry). Starts at 4 p.m. at the
UTC Student Park near Oak Street.

MONDAY, AUG. 19: Meet-and-Greet Breakfast and Directions to your
classes--FREE doughnuts, juice and maps will be offered to new students by
student leaders and UTC staff.  If you're a little lost, don't worry--just
look for the information stations for directions and to update classroom
changes (Circle K, Rotaract, Panhellenic Recruitment Counselors, SOCs and
UTC staff). 7:30 a.m.-12 p.m. at three visible locations across campus.
Breakfast offered from 7:30-9 a.m.

TUESDAY, AUG. 20: The Association of Campus Entertainment Day.  Make a
colorful wax mold of your hand with Wax Hands and or roll up a sleeve for
an Air Brush Tattoo. Both are free and tons of fun to do so come join ACE
for these events.  12-4 p.m. on Vine Street, in front of the University
Center Annex (Stadium Hall).

WEDNEDAY, AUG. 21: UTC Fall Fair.  FREE food and the perfect opportunity to
learn about many of the more than 120 student organizations and campus
departments that make UTC such a great university.  Also participating in
this event are downtown Chattanooga restaurants and banks to showcase their
food and services.  10 a.m. to 2 p.m. up Cardiac Hill.

THURSDAY, AUG. 22: Housing's Scavenger Hunt.  Think you're clever?  Prove
it during Housing's entertaining event.  Guaranteed to give you a good time
and a chance to meet other new and returning students. Meet in front of
Stadium Hall at 3 p.m.

FRIDAY, AUG. 23: Panhellenic/IFC Hawaii 5-0 Party.  Are you ready to travel
to the tropics with the Greek community for group games, volleyball,
football and a free barbecue dinner on Chamberlain Field and UTC Student
Park? Everyone is welcome.  The fun starts at 5 until sunset.

SATURDAY, AUG. 24: Pre-Labor Day Cookout. Come join the BSA and ISO in the
fun at this annual UTC tradition.  Play volleyball and basketball, and then
enjoy a tasty grilled dinner with new friends while you listen to some
great music.  The cookout is from 5-10 p.m. at the amphitheatre. 

SUNDAY, AUG. 25: Sunday Morning Worship Service. Join Campus Ministry for
this non-denominational church service in Patten Chapel on campus.  The
service starts at 10:30 a.m. and is open to individuals of all beliefs.
