Actually, MPE is pretty basic when it comes to tape handling. It is nowhere
near as sophisticated as UNIX or NT/2000.

Kind regards,

It sheds a lot of light. I've always considered MPE to be pretty smart
about
multiple reel/volume/tape/media backups. Tom Emerson recently was studying
how these kinds of issues work in a non-MPE world (Linux) but I think that
we
have more questions than answers. Anybody know more about the non-MPE world
and how this all occurs properly (wouldn't want to quietly or otherwise
loose
any data!).
