Hi y'all,

I am chasing a mystery and was looking for some suggestions
as to where else to search.

For the last three mornings I have "successfully" used
PURGELINK to remove an opened MPE file only to have
it mysteriously reappear the next morning. It seems
to be the exact same file since all characteristics are
the same even to having the same create date. This
is the pattern...

PURGELINK FILE.GROUP
(no messages back so seems ok)

LISTF FILE.GROUP
(file not found)

LISTFILE /ACCT/GROUP/FILE
(file not found)

I go home.

Next morning...

LISTF FILE.GROUP
(voila! itssss baaaack)

PURGELINK FILE.GROUP
(no messages back so seems ok)

LISTF FILE.GROUP
(file not found)

LISTFILE /ACCT/GROUP/FILE
(file not found)

Is my system really being visited by file fairies during
the night or is there something less mystical to consider

You might want to see if the :restore fairies have hit during the night.
Even if you restore with the olddate option, the "restored date" is always
updated to the date of the restore. The only way I know to see this date is
with MPEX on the :listf fileset,XL3 command and you can use the "RSTDATE"
function as a selection filter.
