Hi all

We went "live" on our N4000-100-330 hp e3000 (one cpu) on the weekend.
This system is running ver 7.0 pp1 as the OS.
We previously ran on an HP 992-200 (two cpu's) ver. 6.0 pp2.

I admit that running query on a production system is not the best thing to
do
but one of the fellows was searching out an orders problem and ran the
following
query. (A version of this query has run without major impact on the 992).

However on the new system, this job grabbed so much CPU that we did not have
console access. One of the operations group had Glance running and it was
still
getting response and so we managed to abort the job. This job was running in
the
D queue and the queues are setup using HP default parameters.

We called the response center and they said that it does not matter which
queue
Query runs in, it will bump itself up so that it can release the database if
another job wants it.

Is this true? Does this mean a query job can't be controlled?

I would have thought that users in the C queue should have still have
reasonable
response. If we put it in the E queue it should perk away in the background
even if it needs to run all day.

The following is the standard list for the query job.

This dataset has approx. 9,000,000 records in it. We open our datasets mode
1
ASSIGN LOCKOPTION=OFF for update and mode 5 for read.
