I have called Equifax and asked them to clarify this phone number that I
have given out - a couple of people have written to ask if this number is
legitimate.
This phone number is also given out by the Credit Bureaus - for consumers to
call to opt out of
credit and insurance information -
The number is 1-888-567-8688 - This number is a good number -
There was an e-mail send around last summer about this number saying if you
call this number you can keep anyone from getting your information.
That is not true -
Certain companies and law enforcement agencies will always be able to
receive your information.  There is nothing we can do about this.  If you
need any more information please be in touch with a credit bureau -
