While not released, APL was ported to the HP 3000/44. Somewhere in the
late 1980s, I saw a couple of the APL firmware chips at the desk
of (IIRC) Leon Leong (the guy who ported the firmware to the Grizzly (44) CPU).
AFAIK, HP dropped APL like a hot rock as soon as they won the lawsuit
brought against them over APL's slow performance.
