On a website I found that sells compatible ink cartridges, the vendor
explained that HP differs from many of the other manufacturers in that the
ink cartridge contains the inkjet mechanism, and is protected by patents.
This vendor offers third-party cartridges for many brands of printers, but
only refilled ones for HP products.

selling printer and manufacture a refillable compatible ink cartridge for
