This CNN article, "Calculators vs. PDAs Who wins", compares TI's calculators
with PDAs like Palm. hp has abandoned calculators and its Jornado, although
iPAQ survives for now. But both hp and Compaq were active in the Tablet PC
initiative; it remains to be seen how that will effect Pocket PCs.

As for SATs banning Palms because of IR... when will calculators support IR,
WiFi, Bluetooth, or The Next Best Thing? I'll add this to my list of reasons
why my kids need to know how to use a slide rule...
