Gary,

Model 10/20/30 (H/W mirroring) has only the "traffic lights". Especially
having configured a "hot spare" you will only realize any defect in
checking the lights.

For S/W Mirroring (MirroredDisk/iX) you will get console messages. More
details are described in an article under
http://www.hillschmidt.de/gbr/articles.htm named "How to Deal with Mirrored
Disks"

Best regards, Andreas Schmidt, CSC, Germany

Fellow listers-

How does a person know when a disk in a model 10 array, or on any mirrored
type of arrangement, goes bad? Is there a message on the console? If so,
does it repeat? How do you know when to call for service?
