One option is to know and to work with technologies that cannot be exported,
such as certain kinds of encryption, or which are not practical to export,
such as business mail finishing or certain financials.
How does our old foe, certification, fit into this picture? How easy or
practical is it for someone abroad to become certified on MS or Cisco, or in
certain professional certifications, such as APICS?
Still, it is deeply ironic that "legacy" skills such as those required for
the 3000 and other large "proprietary" systems, without which many large
companies could not do what they do, just "don't get no respect".
