Once you interrupt a disk format operation (intentionally or not) your MPE
system will not recognize the drive - or, worse, will experience a system
interruption when attempting to identify the drive.

At this point your only recourse is to re-format the drive offline.

I have been in this situation personally several years ago at a customer's
site in the wee hours of a weekend.

At the time, we were able to reformat the drive by atttaching it to an
HP-UX system and utilizing an HP-UX diagnostics CD to accomplish the task.

You will need some offline diagnostic utility to format this drive before
it can be recognized again by an MPE system.

Perhaps this utility is included on your SLT. If not, you may need to
complete this task by some other means or system. It can done with an HP-UX
system or, indeed even with an appropriate formatting utility if the drive
is attached to an appropriate interface on a PC.
