well <sigh> patch/ix cr*pped out:

IN  HandleSetupMenu: RECOVER_BLOCK
ERROR: HP Patch/iX failed to successfully setup the
system (PMERR 62).

(and yes, i have the latest version of patch/ix....just downloaded it this morning....it's been
updated, btw....)

another wise old(?) owl (:-) reminded me that yes, reapplying the latest pp is a good idea because
there may be patches that did *not* qualify before that would now because of the product being added
on.         - d 'like i need this much fun....'
