That's an excellent point: If we eliminated all the manifestly evil people in
the world today, no doubt others would arise to take their places. Any of us
has the potential to be the next Hitler or the next Mother Theresa, though most
of us will never go that far in either direction. Only God sees past outward
actions to what's in our hearts, and until our hearts are changed, there will
never be peace in this life or any other.

Of course, that doesn't excuse us from doing what we can to achieve peace here
and now. How we do that is up to each of us; personally, I still believe that
sometimes force has to be met with force.

If only there were evil people somewhere insidiously committing evil deeds and
it were necessary only to separate them from the rest of us and destroy them.
But the line dividing good and evil cuts through the heart of every human
being. And who is willing to destroy a piece of his own heart?
