Reminds me of something I was party to that I will relate without trying to
make any point except, perhaps, that youth = stupidity:

One day in 1978, having recently returned from a day in East Berlin and
visiting a flag shop there with various national flags unavailable in the
West, a few other idiots and I walked down to the canal that had as it's
opposite shore the Wall that protected that communist utopia from the Evil
West, drew the attention of the guards in the tower opposite, and torched
up an East German flag with drunken redneck glee.

Unknown why we were never called on the carpet for that one.
