It's got the Klez virus in it, encoded. I wish there was an easy way
to edit the archives (I've tried really hard not to).

Truely sound advice.  I've fixed many many problems in just this manner!  At
least there was a table of error messages though.  Lots of newer
documentation likes to tell you about how great the features of the
language/tool are but leaves out the real meaningfull info that you need when
problems arise.
