Ray,
First, checkin into the VSTORE command (HELP VSTORE). It will verify the
contents of a STORE tape without actually restoring any data. You don't
state what kind of a tape drive you're using, but people have reported
problems with the early versions of the DDS drives. I believe the DDS-3
drives have been more reliable, but the early drives seemed to lose
alignment. This resulted in tapes not being readable on other drives. If
you have a second drive, you may want to VSTORE the tape on that drive to
make sure the tape is portable. The most reliable tape drives seem to be
the DLT drives.

Hi All,
I would like to run a test on my HP 3000 v 6.0.
Problem is tape errors, tape drive new 3 months ago, regularly cleaned.
So i would like to verify the media, without performing a backup or
restore.
Any suggestions would be welcome.
TIA
Ray.....
