Today, I got a message from a European hp3000 colleague who
manages a VERY successful company that depends on MPE-Image
to beat the competition:

...

MPE, so long under the worst conditions, and in spite
of HP's greatest efforts, has bravely refused to die.

I just did a thorough re-reading (in French) of "The
Count of Montecristo" and I just saw the movie, again,
with my family. We had many questions and few answers.
Why the passion to kill good things? Everyone loves
to see the Count of Montecristo "survive and prosper",
as Wirt has so many times proposed for MPE/iX and Image.

...

I had forgotten about this story. I'll go unearth my copy
of "El Conde de Montecristo" (which I read, decades ago, in
Spanish). There was even a serialized version on the radio
during my childhood in Antigua Guatemala.
