Sorry, you are right and I was not thinking correctly. What I said only
works on temp files in your own process tree.

But MPEX does give a solution. Assuming you are logged on with appropriate
authority to access the user/job you wish to look at:

%SHOWPROC <userset or pin or job#>;FORMAT=FILES

Or even better since you only want to look at one file:

%SHOWPROC <userset or pin or job#>;FORMAT=FILES

For example, I logged on as TIM.DVIPM and opened a scratch file in Qedit. So
QEDITSCR was open to record 2. Then from an SM account, I did the following
showproc command. As the example shows, temporary file QEDITSCR is listed as
open at record 2.

SHOWPROC TIM.DVIPM;FILES=QEDITSCR.ATWOOD.DVIPM

QPRI CPUTIME STATE JOBNUM PIN (PROGRAM) STEP
  # filename code recsz access eof rec# #ios

(Note: Since you are probably viewing this plain text email in a
proportional font, the listing will not line up. Try a fixed width font.)

Tim,

<<Which MPEX command were you using on permanent files? In most cases the
fileset can be directed to temporary files with ":TEMP" as in:
%LISTF @:TEMP>>

As a test, here is what I tired:

Logged on to one account and built a temporary file ABC

Performed a remote logon to another account and built a temporary file DEF.
I then invoked MPEX,

   %LISTF DEF:TEMP,2 [found it!]
%LISTF ABC.group.account [did not find it]

Were you implying that LISTF file:TEMP in MPEX will report on a temporary
file in the tree of another process?
