The School of Nursing has been awarded a $45,906 continuation
grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration to support the
Master of Science in Nursing Nurse Anesthetist Traineeship program.
This grant, which is coordinated and administered by Dr. Kay Lindgren,
provides traineeships to enable MSN/NAC students to gain experience
necessary to work with surgeons and physicians in anesthesia
administration. This experience will be highly beneficial to the
students as well as to the patients and physicians with whom they
work, particularly in rural areas where nurse anesthetists
practice with other medical professionals who are not
skilled in anesthesia administration.
Most of the training will take place on the Erlanger Health System campus
which includes T.C. Thompson Children's Hospital, The Miller Eye Center,
Regional Cancer, Heart and Burn Centers as well as the Ambulatory Care Center.
Congratulations to Dr. Lindgren and the School of Nursing for receiving
this grant money.
