We're now only slightly over TWO WEEKS till this mini-NEDfest. So,
before I go warm up the water for the CAIV02NEDfest folks this Saturday,
I'll try to have as much as our mini-NEDfest finalized as possible.

I'll do this in two parts: first updating some stuff in Bulletin #1,
while repeating most of it for whose who missed it the first time.

Then I'll wait a day or two to gather further info and questions from
attendees before posting Bulletin #2.

Additional DRIVING instructions.

For those coming from Georgia (I-75N), or Alabama (I-59N), or from
Nashville (I-24E), all roads lead to I-75 NORTH to Knoxville. Exit 3A on
I-75 N is the first possible exit for those driving from Nashville or AL.

Below are the MAPQUEST directions (step 3 is arbitrarily numbered here):

3: Take the E BRAINERD RD exit- exit number 3A. 0.31 miles
4: Merge onto E BRAINERD RD/TN-320. 1.52 miles
5: Turn LEFT onto JENKINS RD. 0.55 miles
6: Turn RIGHT onto HITCHCOCK RD. 0.37 miles
7: Turn LEFT onto ASHLEY MILL DR. 0.22 miles
8 Turn RIGHT onto GATEHOUSE XING. 0.01 miles

Here's my modification (with some landmarks):

3. Take E. Brainerd Rd exit 3A to traffic light at an EXXON gas station.
4. From THIS traffic light, go approx 1.5 miles until you see a PIZZA
HUT on the left, the intersection of JENKINS RD (and E. Brainerd)
5. Turn LEFT onto JENKINS RD and take ONE (20 mph) turn, 0.4 mi from (4).
6. Go STRAIGHT till dead-end (0.2 mi to HITCHCOCK RD,
another 0.3 mi to entrance of ASHLEY MILL Subdivision.
7. STRAIGHT on ASHLEY MILL DR till dead-end (0.22 mi)
8. The RIGHT onto GATEHOUSE XING to the driveway (0.01 mi)
entrance of our house is only 15 feet. XING is the standard
US postal and map spelling for CROSSING.

The directions above are only slightly different from the MAPQUEST
directions. But for those coming from KNOXVILLE, or I-75 S, the simplest
direction way is to take Exit 3 (for E or W onto E. BRAINERD RD).
DO NOT take Exit 4, but STAY ON I-75 S toward Atlanta UNTIL you
actually see an exit labeled "Exit 3". Take this exit and first LEFT
to a traffic light on E. BRAINERD. Turn LEFT on this traffic light
through the I-75 underpass to the next traffic light, which is the
traffic light on STEP 3 exiting from I-75 N! As a mathematician
might way, this reduces a S-Bound solution to a N-bound solution.

If any of you wants to buy the GROUP RATE tickets for the Aquarium or
Aquarium/IMAX combo, I can order those tickets (and pick them up HERE
before June 1 for you) is you'll let me know how many of each you'll
need. For this and other solicitation of info from me, please EMAIL
me at this address:

to facilitate my receive and reply while I my Eudora SEND/REPLY
problems remain unresolved.

Mike and Mark, send me any final details when they become available.

Bob the elderly rotund gentleman and his wife Sue whom Crusty canonized,
the defacto organizer of this mini-NEDfest.

Now DEFINITE attendees.

Unable to come because of his wife's scheduled knee surgery on May 31.

That's Carl Allen, a subscriber and occasional lurker on Scuba-SE, though
not yet certified. Carl will be attending the June 1 events and will
have lots of diving and certification questions for us. :-)

This will likely remain "play it by ear" through June 1.

I think I had Viv scared that GRITS may be all she'll get. :-)
Actually, for the buffet breakfast restaurants I had in mind, GRITS
and BISCUIT/GRAVY will comprise on TWO of 50 or so breakfast item
selections. :-) No road-kills, but eggs, ham, bacon, fruits, etc.
should satisfy most breakfast eaters.

But no Sunday brunch at the Belagio (at Vegas) either. :-) Sue and
I are still suffering from indigestion from the brunch there, for
something like $34 a head. They had GRITS too! :-))

For whose with a phone number within the 50 US States, please email
me a number you can be reached because it's much easier and quicker
for me to TALK to you (I have unlimited number of minutes on weekends
and several hundred minutes on week days to call anyone on my cell
phone) than via email, especially in view of the short planning
horizon and the fact that I'll be away from home most of the remaining
days till June 1!

You may also ask me to initial my "free" long-distance call to you, if
you have extended questions, by giving me a number and time to call.

At this time, I solicitate info from those who will be at the June 1
evening party of the Choo-Choo-mini-NEDfest, and have not yet given me
your list of preferred breverage/munchies at the party.

Finally, if anyone has anything they would like to "show off" or simply
contribute, as "local specialties", such as a few bottles of wine from
Chateau Weigold's grand cru from his own vinyeard will be welcome,
though not necessary nor solicited. Let me know if you have some such
in mind so I won't spend too many days looking for road-kills. <BWG>

Until Bulletin #2 ...
