Terry asks:-

"Since this is official HP marketing material, the client is in a total
quandary about the real status. I am hoping someone here might have
more insight on this."

Terry's email reflects the confusion around HP's EOL announcement for
the HPe3000.

This is from their website at:-

http://www.hp.com/products1/mpeixservers/future/details/index.html

"hp's message to customers and partners"

"HP is not abruptly discontinuing the HP e3000. Instead, future
end-of-sales and end-of-support dates for the HP e3000 and MPE/iX have
been set. In order to allow customers enough time to plan and
effectively manage their businesses through the transition period:

HP will continue to provide a broad portfolio of support services for
the HP e3000 until December 31, 2006, and

HP will continue to sell and enhance MPE/iX and the HP e3000 until
October 31, 2003. "
