you might find some small examples for COBOL and NetIPC as well as
for C and Berkeley Sockets (and one for putting something under INETD
control) at the "Socket Examples" link in my page at...

The "Remote VPLUS" package also has some additional socket source code,
C with Berkeley Sockets as well as Java with java.net.[Server]Socket.
