What brand and model of tape are you using? Have you recently restored from
a tape from your DDS-2 device to another device, such as your DDS-3? If so,
was it successful? Why are you still using DDS2?

Subject: STORE write error on DDS-2

Frequently I see this error from STORE on a DDS-2 drive.
STORE ENCOUNTERED MEDIA WRITE ERROR ON LDEV 7 (S/R 1454)
SPECIFICALLY, STORE RECEIVED ERROR -49 FROM THE IO SYSTEM (S/R 1557)
11:38/#S8/84/STORE IS MARKING MEDIA 1 BAD ON LDEV 7
11:39/#S8/84/MOUNT MEDIA 1 FOR STORE ON LDEV 7

I have also seen error -44 from the IO system.
Anyone know what these IO system error numbers refer to?
Is there a list someplace I can view(copy)?

This happens on new tapes -- which afterwards tested on DDS-3 and work
great.
