I don't mind so much admitting that given a choice between building my own
wheel, and buying someone else's, the latter is sometimes a correct choice.
The EDI standards are also public, but this does not seem to hurt the
software vendors.

I understand that laziness is a biological necessity: if I have to spend
more energy gathering food than I get from the food, I'm better off not
eating. It's just a question of how long it takes me to starve to death.

Of course, it is more politically expedient to call this approach to work
"efficiency" than "laziness". I can then use the time I save to read "Slack:
Getting Past Burnout, Busywork, and the Myth of Total Efficiency".
