Part of the problem was that the large stake customers were leaving, and
apparently not being given any reason to stay. Is anyone from State Farm on
the list, lurking here or via comp.sys.hp.mpe? What large shops are left,
who are not leaving? At the same time, too few new shops were being brought
into the fold, large or small.

With the large shops leaving, and new customers staying away in droves, the
platform really did cease to be viable. And this was a known problem, as
evidenced by discussions on this list.
