The problem with your option #5 is that HP would have to spin it off to the
stockholders.  It is probably too small to bother with that type of
transaction anyway.  Besides, if it is a "bad company" it would generate
more stockholder value to sell it.

I agree that almost anything is better than option #1 (Kill & Bury it).

MPE represents significant technology that should not be lost just because
HP is focused on other things.
