I think the banner format has changed slightly since I worked there -- I
don't remember the "6.0" part of it, but the "30n10511" is definately the
"actual" version of MPEX (it corresponds to the date it was compiled.)  I
suspect that Eugene has placed logic in the program to extract the current
OS version and display it in the MPEX banner -- the main reason I can think
of is that we often asked for both the output of the opening banner and the
":SHOWME" command -- what we would get would be "just" the MPEX banner...
