Hi

I have a 928LX running 7.0 powerpatch 1. I am not sure on what memory is in
there.

The machine seems very slow in the following respects.

1 It takes up to 4 hours to delete 12000 files from posix folders.

2 It seems to take forever to do an ls in the posix shell.

We are using the machine to ftp files and responses between our 36
customers. Each customer mgets files from a posix folder every 5 minutes.
Customer replies
are ftped immediately to the machine. So ftp traffic is very high !
Yesterday 12000 files were sent or received by the machine.

Any ideas what the problem might be. Is the posix folder system slower than
MPE groups ?

Sounds like you've hit the problem discussed on 9/25/01 about large purges.
The short version says to do the deletes in reverse alphabetical order.
