With the latest development of excluding Walter Hewlett from the board
nomination list, the best strategy for all stockholders would be to:
Vote against ALL names put forth for election to HP's board!
This is a shocking example of emotional behavior by supposedly respectable
business men & women who have driven a once great company to the brink of
disaster. The fact that Walter Hewlett does not agree with all other
members of the board is not a reason to prevent him from being elected to
the board. He has had a perfectly reasonable point of view regarding this
business decision (merger/purchase) that has gained at least 49.5% of the
shareholder vote, if not more. He has conducted himself at least as well
as a certain CEO, if not better. This is to say nothing of the fact that
he also represents a very large block of stock held by the family of the
founders and their foundations. Even if his views are contrary to the
other board members or management, they are legitimate and should be heard
in the board room. He also has every right to test the validity of the
vote with his lawsuit to be sure of its accuracy, because once this merger
takes place, that's it!
First, HP threw out the instrument divisions that HP was founded upon
(AGILANT Technologies). And now, they are throwing out the founding
families themselves -- disgraceful.
All that is left is to remove the Hewlett-Packard name from the company and
the transformation to a useless, pointless "ME TOO" behemouth will be
complete. Suggestion for a new name: AGITATED Bureaucracies.
