The play tells the story of women in rural 17th century England accused of
witchcraft by a man they have rejected.  The musical framework of the play
delivers its themes to a contemporary sensibility.  The multiple Obie Award
winning playwright, Caryl Churchill, is one of the most important voices of
the modern theatre.


VINEGAR TOM contains strong language and sexual situations.  Though there
are no witches in the play, 17th century witch-hunts are the play's
subject. This may offend the religious or moral beliefs of some.
