Actually I find it kind of sad to see that a user group has turned into an
organization that misprepresents it members, as in the merger vote, and can
only communicate with them through a carefully worded and much delayed press
release.

This message does nothing to make me want to reactivate my membership. In
fact, it does the opposite and confirms to me that my original decision to
cancel was the correct one.
