I've not heard rumors about MPE being ported specifically to the 9000 (or hp
servers, as they're now called), but I do not see any major roadblock to do
so.

More specifically, what are the differences between a 3000 and a 9000 ?

- Front label
- Operating system
- 9000s have a much wider choice of I/O cards : ATM, telecom, etc.
- 9000 CPUs are NOT software-crippled to achieve lower frequencies (all A-
and most N-Class 3000s are)
- 9000s have a somewhat wider choice of peripherals (e.g. MO libraries)
- 3000 are factory-configured to boot MPE and a limited 2-user HP-UX licence
(for offline support purposes only), 9000 are factory-configured to boot
HP-UX only.

All these remarks, except the last one, tend to describe the 9000 offering
as a superset of the 3000 range.
