I'm sure I'll be shredded for this response (or Denys will step in and
demand the thread be ended) but this statement deserves a retort. By that
logic you should refrain from consuming gasoline and natural gas because
they use up natural resources or because you "disenfranchise" electric car
drivers (all two of them). And the ADA? won't even go there. Ever heard of
free speech? :). I pay for internet connection.

And as for "free" Sendmail, sure it's free if you want to hassle scripts and
futz with MIME headers to send a message with an attachment and install two
other apps (syslog) and (bindix) on your machine as well -- not too mention
having to run a DNS server. With SMTP-X you can get out of ALL that with
one stroke (and send spool files of course/in html is preferred. It's
called added-value and it's what you pay a nonimal fee for (and if you don't
think $799 is nonimal for a 3000 app, go to Cognos) or spend $2000 for a web
server that uses SSL.

Chris

Uh, sending email in HTML form is dumb, evil, and simply a bad idea.

Did I mention it's stupid?

And, it might even violate the ADA? (It certainly violates the
spirit of the ADA!)

Oh, did I mention it takes 3 to 30 times the bandwidth and local storage?

Did I also mention that it disenfranchises some of your potential readers?

DID I MENTION IT WAS A BAD IDEA?

Stan (hmmph!) Sieler :)
