There is a site on the internet called "slashdot" that posts "geek" info and
solicits user comments (somewhat like a private newsserver, or perhaps a BBS
of the 80's...) In any event, technical news items posted there tend to be
read by THOUSANDS of people who (almost always) immediately "hit" the site
being talked about, often causing a "denial of service"-like result (more so
recently due to ISP's placing a per-day/month limit on the number of times a
website can be read or accessed, which is an artificial limit...)
See http://slashdot.org/ for the site,
and http://slashdot.org/faq/slashmeta.shtml#sm600 for their FAQ-page answer
to your question
