Chuck made this snide remark about Ed's Yahoo address:

CH> As has been pointed out, you want a free e-mail ID, this is part of the
CH> price of admission. They are easily forged.

And then Chuck launched into his Yahoo-bashing by suggesting (the silly
option) to BAN all Yahoo.com subscribers, on the occurrence of ONE
single posting by Hahaha, which was not even posted from Yahoo!!!!!

1, Just how many Yahoo addresses have you seen forged, in Scuba-SE?

<Someone tried, SIX TIMES yesterday, without success, of forging a post
using my Yahoo.com email address!> I received notification of this
forger's attempted post in my Yahoo.com email account!

2. Do you know NOW that a subscriber with a Yahoo mailing address
does NOT have to post with it? (Me, e.g.) Why don't you or anyone
try to see if you can POST (with my Yahoo address) from where I
post (the LISTSERV archives webpage)? How can you "forge" my
    password which you don't know??

Apparently Chuck still don't know that difference, which was why he
screwed up my subscription by making unwarranted changes!

3. Do you know that a person using a free e-mail ID to subscribe to a
LIST may have many reasons that hadn't occurred to YOU?

I'll tell you Chuck, and the rest of readers WHY!

I have email addresses in FOUR different domains, not counting
Yahoo.com: @clemson.edu, @worldnet.att.net, @earthlink.net, and
@cs.com.

Yahoo is the ONLY freebie. The worldnet.att.net, earthlink, and
cs.com are ALL paid subscriptions! The Clemson address is my
permanent address as Professor Emeritus of that university.

Why do *I* choose to use @yahoo.com for my newsgroup and LIST
USERIDS even though I DON'T POST from it? (I post from google.com
to USENET newsgroups; and from LISTSERV webpage to Scuba-SE)
for precisely reasons of PRIVACY in posting discussion in groups full
of NUTS. :-)

The Yahoo address catches all the SPAMS -- it even has its own SPAM
filter. I don't use that address for personal email and sometimes leave
it unread weeks at a time!

THAT, in fact, is a distinct ADVANTAGE of subscribing with a free-ID
to catch all the undesirable email, while READING and POSTING
Scuba-SE elsewhere (the LISTSERV archives webpage).

Remember Quinn Harry? He is one of these NUTS who can't stick to
a discussion group and had to make FALSE accusations to Clemson
about me in postings that had nothing to do with my profession or
my affiliation? He is not the only NUT who does that. That's only
ONE of the many reasons I don't post from THAT address anymore!

So Chuck, get your FACTS straight first, and don't be so trigger-happy,
as you have always been, when you don't have the FACTS!

-- Bob.
