We have noticed on several occasions that the person working the light looks
into the office before asking you to push the button. I suspect there is
some profiling going on. I also suspect (we have not been stopped in a
looooooong time even though we always have a large number of large obviously
non-dive bags and often boxes) that we are recognized by the people working
customs and they have decided we are not smugglers just crazy gringos.

We also on one trip flying in via Cancun on the last flight of the night
with 4 huge suitcases a big backpack and Jeannie's 2 carryons had the light
turn green before we ever pushed the button. I suspect the customs workers
wanted to call it a night.
