So, IBM is offering to help MPEers transition to their iSeries, nee AS/400.
If this is a run-of-the-mill service offering where the gurus come in, do
their thing, and then leave, it could be a slam dunk for hp. MPEers would
just need hp to help us do what we want to do. For not a few of us, that
means continuing to run it, trust it, and evolve it. It could get
interesting to see what happens next.
Then again, for MPEers learning Linux, Linux on the mainframe, or any other
platform that you cannot pick up at a store in your neighborhood, could
require some disciplines that are only learned in the business world, more
so than in a semester college course.
