So... If someone makes an invalid assumption or interpretation of the Bible
(or any other book), then the Bible is actually making that claim! Because
400 years ago people reading the Bible assumed that it said the sun revolves
around the earth, today we have to believe that that is what the Bible
actually says? The Bible hasn't changed, our understanding of it has
changed.

It's important to remember that the Earth has only recently undergone a
paradigm shift, and you know how uncomfortable those can be. If you said
what
you wrote above a mere 400 years ago, it would have gotten you burned at the
stake for Herrin-esy.
