At the risk of being murdered by people who are sick of this thread and
haven't figured out how to disable the receipt of OT: messages, I'll mention
that I recently noticed that the oldest file I have on our main HP3000
system is:
FILE: RLX.RL.GAVIN
FILE CODE : 1028 FOPTIONS: BINARY,FIXED,NOCCTL,STD
BLK FACTOR: 1 CREATOR : **
REC SIZE: 256(BYTES) LOCKWORD: **
BLK SIZE: 256(BYTES) SECURITY--READ : ANY
EXT SIZE: 101(SECT) WRITE : ANY
NUM REC: 111 APPEND : ANY
NUM SEC: 112 LOCK : ANY
NUM EXT: 1 EXECUTE : ANY
MAX REC: 200 **SECURITY IS ON
MAX EXT: 2 FLAGS : NO ACCESSORS
NUM LABELS: 0 CREATED : THU, APR 15, 1982, 5:18 PM
MAX LABELS: 0 MODIFIED: FRI, OCT 13, 1995, 1:49 PM
DISC DEV #: 3 ACCESSED: WED, JAN 16, 2002, 5:50 PM
SEC OFFSET: 0 LABEL ADDR: **
VOLSET : USERS
In just about a month and a half it will have been twenty years since this
file was created, and it will have survived two job changes and innumerable
:RESTORE;OLDDATEs without ever losing its original creation data stamp.
One of the reasons this file has remained for so long is that it is an RL
file which was simply updated each time code was recompiled rather than
having been purged and rebuilt.
I was going to post something on April 15th, but it seems to fit in well
with the "oldest relic" discussion.
