I'd like to share that as a consultant I've been contacted
4 times in the last 4 weeks about going to shops that are
now converting from their HP3k to an IBM AS400. One company
is a billion dollar a year business.

Perhaps HP has mis-calculated? Or, perhaps the Compaq
merger, the consulting projects they will acquire, the
savings of laying off or re-aligning HP3K resources

"offsets"

the loss of HP3K hardware sales - maint. fees - and
longterm customer relationships? Hmmmmmmmmm
