The old SET BUGS=OFF in autoexec.bat still works though... I also tried
SET ASTONISHGLYHIDEOUSCOLORSCHEME=OFF (and for the UK version SET
ASTONISHGLYHIDEOUSCOLOURSCHEME="NO THANK YOU") but that didn't work <sigh>
I had to use  the "My Personal Ergonomic Profile Identification Settings
(aka PEPIS)" and set the "Personal Visual Representation of This Computer"
(aka PVRTC)" property objectivelet to "Normal".

Windows eh... <shrug>
